Hi Lewis

When I finally held my hands up and admitted to myself that I had a problem and needed help I made the decision that I would tell everyone. After attending GA meetings for a few weeks/months I came to realise that it wasn't just my gambling that had to stop....the lying did too.

The simple fact is that I could not be trusted with money, everyone around me had a right to know that.

Everyone I told about my problem were very supportive. They did not judge me, and above all they were quite humbled by the fact that I had been honest enough to tell them as a sign of respect.

From my experience over the past 6 years in GA, I do not recall anyone ever saying that when they told people about their problem they were treated with hostility. When you think about it, why would anyone be anything but pleased for someone who is actively trying to get better from a serious illness?
