craig2289 Wrote:Hi,

Same old story here I'm afraid. Started gambling at 16 on machines and have found myself betting on everything possible losing wages, loans, other people money. Happily with my girlfriend and have now come clean about a lot of missing money and "lost" money.

Anyway, went to my first meeting last Tuesday in Birmingham and I must say, I have never been made to feel more welcome. The people there that run the meeting along with the people that have been free from gambling but stil go to continue their recovery but to guide and give examples of a better life to others.

7 days now without a bet of any kind and second meeting tonight. I urge anyone who thinks they might have a problem to get to a meeting. Everyone who cares for you will be extremely supportive and you will feel proud of yourself that you made that 1st real step by going to a meeting. Pride in yourself is one of the main focus' that is helping me and going to a meeting has given me that. From one meeting to the next, you have something to work to and that is getting to your next meeting without a bet.

I will update through good or bad. <!-- sSmile --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /><!-- sSmile -->

Hope that over the coming hours, days, weeks, months and years you can continue to help others in recovery as they've obviously helped you so far...and learn how GA recovery works...

I'm 12 years in and still learning a day at a time...
All the best
