gamblers poem - paulll - 11-12-2011
The gambler leads a secret life
Unknown to his kids and wife
This sickness takes its toll
De-energises and saps the soul
The constant quest to make a gain
Takes over like a man insane
Not even his best friend would know
The lengths he will go to make more dough
Yet the odds are stacked against him
And his chances are always slim
But he barrels on into the void
Until his situation cannot be denied
He will sell his birthright down the drain
For just one more rush of adrenaline
