My gambling story
Hi all

Would just like to share a bit about my gambling issues. Only just coming to terms with the fact I may have a gambling issue. I have gambled for years starting with a few football bets and then discovered online casinos. Depositing money and straight away gambling on roulette. At first things seemed good I would gamble with around £xx and some months have an extra £xxx in my pocket which was lovely. However things have changed friday I got paid and by yesterday I have £xx left in my account, I’m working professional in London and get paid a good salary and now I just don’t know, I always prioritise my rent and council tax luckily but I think I need to come terms that I do have an issue. For me it’s not about the thrill in fact I hate playing roulette , I guess I’m just greedy for money and it can be extremely scary when your brain almost shuts off and you deposit £xx and then it’s always just one more £xx which turns out to be hundreds when you realise the following day.

Does anyone have similar experiences?

Hi Sam,

I'm sorry for not replying sooner, If you feel that you have an issue, then hold on to that fact, because you are probably right. I started this way and earning a reasonable salary was always the justification for continuing to gamble because I could "afford it". Truth was, especially looking back after 28 months in recovery, I really couldn't afford it, as I was actually neglecting the important parts of my life, especially family. Prioritising bills etc were always a priority for me, until the addiction over took the responsible approach. If you feel there is a problem, and it sounds to me like there is, try the 20 questions and get to a GA meeting to listen to others experience. Gambling addiction is progressive and will increase in intensity over time, you don't have to wait until it's brought you to your knees to work a program to stay off.

Wishing you well

One day at a time.  My last bet was 15/03/2016 and I hope and pray each day that it stays that way.
