How do I make the gambling feeling go away?
#2
Hi HelenY

I don't know that I can answer your question. I have now been gamble free for 16 months.
For me to stop gambling I had to reach my "rock bottom"...I attempted suicide. I occasionally have thoughts about gambling, but I know that if I had "just one bet" I would be in trouble again.
What would I do this time? <!-- sSad --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_sad.gif" alt="Sad" title="Sad" /><!-- sSad -->

You sound as though you have resisted the urge thus far, but are struggling.

Do you feel as though "you are powerless over gambling"? If so, can you admit to yourself HONESTLY that you could not control your gambling if you did gamble?

Might I suggest attending a few GA meetings. Meet with people who have a this problem, and are attempting to overcome it. It does not matter whether you gamble in small or large amounts.
If gambling, (or the thoughts of gambling) is affecting your life, then you do have a problem.

Best wishes
Roy
