Life goes on.......
#1
Hi my name is jay im a compulsive gambler, last best april 1st 2011.

Life goes on......It has to not only for yourself but for others around you. Each indivdual that read this will be at a different stage of recovery. I based my recovery on accepting the 1st step,i am powerless over gambleing and my life is unmanagble. In my life i will always be powerless to the adiction, but my life has slowly became managable again.I no longer want to win money to buy nice things, ive accepted to have nice things, you work for them.My finaNCES at the moment are rubbish, money is very scarce, and some weeks we strugle. BUT i have the things now i never had a year ago, a much simpler life filled with love from my family and freinds. Ive accepted that things do not happen overnight no matter how much we want them too, for me in my recovery accepting this made it easier.Life goes on is related to Comitment to GA,i cannot change the past and have accepted this, though i can make amends for the past,If i have a family BBQ on my meet night i would skip the meet to spend time with my family, my kids are 7 (10+12 partners kids) ive missed alot of fmaily events due to gambleing i wont miss anymore before they grow up.Please dont read this the wrong way,for me being commited to my family life now helps me in my recovery, and joined with my meets are the 2 sole forms of my recovery. When i miss a meet, i always make time to go to another one the same week, im lucky i have meets sun/mon,wens,thurs all within an hour drive of me.
I went to a very deep and powerfull meet last night, shared a bit, talked a bit and offerd advice a bit,Formyself it couldnt have come at a better time i left the room buzzing, and still at 3am this morning i was still running over what was said trying to take it all in.
BE you a newcomer to GA or an oldie, or an oldie who look's like a youngie (no names) <!-- s:mrgreen: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt="" title="Mr. Green" /><!-- s:mrgreen: --> We all take our recovery in different ways we after all are individuals, what works for one may not work for another. What i do know is that the 12 steps is a proven programme with proven results.

i could go on and on and on but im sure some of you want to go and watch eastenders !

take care all One Day At A Time

Jay.x
