Hi everyone
aaronlee Wrote:Hi everyone, Ive finally took the first step and admitted to myself and my partner that I have a gambling problem. Im going to do anything and everything in my power to get over it and sort my life out not only for my family but for myself. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Im going to be attending my first meeting in Wakefield at the The Salvation Army next Thursday and would like to no if I can take my partner for support?

Hi Aaronlee,

Have you read the 'new to ga' link on the main ga page?........... explains about ga and how it can help?

GA meetings are for the compulsive gambler who wants to stop gambling...although some meeting places do have gam-anon meetings too...

Gam-anon is the sister organisation of GA that supports the families, friends and loved ones to help them understand the addiction that is compulsive gambling. Details of Gam-anon can be found on the main ga page via the friends and family tab...

Sadly at the moment Wakefield does not...but in my meeting when family members have turned up, a GA member will speak to the family outside the room and explain to them how GA works etc...

Let us know how the meeting goes..
Smartie xx
