It is great that you have found a meeting close to you, have you been yet? If so, how did it go?

The only suggestion I can give to anyone coming to this forum, looking for help with a gambling addiction, is to attend GA meetings. It is the only thing that kick-started my recovery.
I do not know of anyone who has stayed off gambling by just reading the stories in this forum or just using the chatroom either. For sure, it will help for a small period of time, but not long. Maybe I am wrong, maybe there is the odd one person who has been able to abstain but how I look at it I want to give myself the best chance possible. Go with the majority, the proven path, rather than find my own way. After all, I proved (through 25 years of irresponsible gambling) that 'my way' doesn't work, it brought me to my knees and to the doors of GA. It was time for me to try a different way, the GA way, and the GA way tells us to attend meetings.
By attending meetings I get better, but at the same time I am able to support the very thing that gave me my life back, GA itself.
