Depends I guess on many factors....

Experience says that many turn up again days / weeks / months or years later with an update....sure some who might not be that addicted may be fine, but the hope is that people understand how GA works and get to a meeting and the GA program ASAP....

Just last night at my home meeting, a member returned after not attending for a while. I hoped that the story would be different, but the truth was exactly as I expected, he'd got complacent, stopped going to meetings and eventually started gambling again. I didn't get it first time, all I can suggest to anyone is to keep trying, keep going to meetings. All the time I go to the meetings and work the recovery program, I don't gamble, it really can be that simple.

One day at a time

One day at a time.  My last bet was 15/03/2016 and I hope and pray each day that it stays that way.

I think that's true, 99.9% of the time we know they have gone back to gambling, I'm just being hopeful that they haven't, or if they have they know that there is a welcoming hand here for those who have had enough.

Hi all,

Sorry for didn't check on my section for a while.

Here is my update:

I am still going to GA every week. I got my 30 Days on September 30 and since then I relapsed 3 times. And now my new anniversary date is November 11, 2018.

I hope this time I can make it through to 60 Days.

Peaches+Apples I'm glad to hear you are continuing with GA despite your relapsing. As has been mentioned, don't make big statements like being off for 60 days. Yes that's an aim, but keep it simple, just for today don't gamble and worry about tomorrow later. You'll find those days soon add up.
Something else I did, especially in the early days of relapsing, is change the thing that allowed you to gamble to make it harder next time, giving you time to get to a meeting or pick up the phone to another member. Good luck and keep us informed.

Hi all,

Recently I found out that you can use the Parental Control in iPad to set up password restriction for in-app purchase. So I asked my girl to set it up for and now I couldn't buy any coins to play the iPad Casino Slots without asking my girl to disable it.

It will hurt my pride if I ever ask my girl to disable it so I think that will help me from wasting money in playing the iPad Casino Slots.

But I do use the free coins provided to play now and then. I treat it as an entertainment. I would like to hear your opinion.

Thanks.

Certainly a positive putting another blocker in place so well done for that...

As to the free betting....well for me its the soft way to gamble and it gives me hope that I can win which you often do during those types of gambling...so when the money because available again or you feel the need to gamble strongly again for money, you are essentially still in action...

Just be cautious and give it thought. Maybe ask yourself do you really want to stop gambling and make an informed choice...

All the best and thanks for sharing...
